New Members for 2026:

Of the 76 eligible artists in 2025, the general membership selected a shortlist of around 18 artists. Then, early in the new year, representatives from the membership and the Executive Committee met at the gallery and both selected and invited six new members. All six have now accepted the invitation to join, so we are pleased to welcome: Hamish Young; Rosalind Robinson; Laura Howarth; Aga Kubish; Maggie King and Christine Howes.

Our active Membership stands at around 125. Prospective new members are nominated by the membership and elected by the Executive Committee. Anyone eligible to join must have had work shown in the Victoria Art Gallery for at least two prior, but not necessarily consecutive years, and have work hung in the current year.

On average, over the last seven years, we have exhibited 380 works per show. Each member is currently allowed to show at least one work and up to two, if selected. Non-members can submit up to two works. 

We aim to exhibit a 60/40 ratio of work selected from non-members and members. So, maintaining the membership at around 125 ensures a fair distribution of exhibition space between both members and non-members alike. Consequently, this means we are only able to invite a handful of new members each year.
